Taira no Koremochi is ordered with the task of subduing demons on Mt. Togakushi. Arriving at
the mountain, Koremochi and his servant, Taro-Raja, are impressed by the beauty of the autumn
leaves, and decide to have a rest and enjoy some sake. As Taro is about to break off a branch of
leaves, a mysterious maiden appears and prevents him from doing so. They invite her to join them
in their party, which she does.
